How Much I Can Borrow
The very first stage in the home buying process is to work out how much you
can afford to pay for your dream home. To do that you need to know precisely how
much you can borrow.
Even if you have done your own calculation and believe that you can afford to
make a purchase, don’t assume that your lender will use the same calculation
method to assess your inquiry. Every lender has their own affordability
calculator.
Before signing any purchase contract make sure that you have been formally
pre-approved for a. Home Loan by the lender of your choice. If this has not been
done, do not purchase at an auction and do not sign any unconditional purchase
contracts.
When in doubt, sign ‘subject to finance’ to make sure that you do not lose your
deposit if you do not end up qualifying for a home loan.
